Well, it has been another exciting month for our challenges. For the December Challenge we received over 100 entries, breaking the previous record. Our editors had a very enjoyable time reading through all the entries, and we hope you did as well. The December Challenge was a big step for us because we were able to take the prizes to the next level and offer cash awards. We are very excited about this because one of the things we are very passionate at Convozine is finding ways to support and encourage the art community. We hope to continue to find more ways to do that in the coming months. Editor’s Pick
The impressive quality of the entries made it very difficult to pick a winner — the editors had many great stories to choose from.
We are proud to award the Editor’s Pick to MReel, for his excellent entry entitled “Waiting for Rwanda”. For his winning entry MReel will receive a $500 cash prize and a hardcover bound coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.
Here are some of our notes on “Waiting for Rwanda”:
“Waiting for Rwanda is cathartic, well-executed and has a natural flow to it. It’s visceral and engaging without resorting to excessive artifice or overthinking.” – Joseph Yen, Co-Founder, CEO
“Remarkable for the degree of power and moral force it generates on the strength of complete inaction..” — Douglas Gorney, Content Director, Editor-in-Chief
There were many excellent stories and selecting only one was difficult. Here are some others we really liked:
“Promise and Collapse” — Duncan Vieira
“Somewhat Operational” — Cinafero Hollbeck
“A Breakup” — L. Imming
“Major Tom to Ground Control” — L.F. Sellyn
Reader’s Choice
First Place, with 445 total awards at the contest end, goes to Allison Dowell for her entry “A Little Bit Stronger”. Allison will receive $500 and a hardcover bound coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.
Second Place, with a total of 385 awards, goes to Bernardia Arumsari for her entry “It’s About Your Future; Start With Good Habits”. Bernardia will receive $300 and a softcover coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.
Third Place, with 312 awards, goes to Darrel Curts for “Sexting” . Darrel will receive $200 and a softcover coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.
Congratulations not only to the winners, but to all the contestants. We continue to be impressed by the quality of your work!
